THE FULL STORY

In January 2023, a team in Los Angeles unrolled the biggest pizza ever made. It covered 13,990 square feet, which is about a quarter the size of a soccer pitch. Standing next to it felt less like looking at food and more like staring out across a cheesy parking lot.

The numbers are wild. About 13,653 pounds of dough, 4,948 pounds of cheese and 8,800 pounds of pizza sauce all went into it. Workers brushed sauce across the dough with what looked more like paint rollers than spoons, then sprinkled the cheese while walking up and down in lines.

After baking in sections, the pizza was cut into more than 68,000 slices and donated to people in need. So while it set a world record, it also turned into a very long, very orange dinner for thousands of strangers who probably never expected pizza to arrive in a truck.
