THE FULL STORY

Simone Biles is only 4 feet 8 inches tall - small even for a gymnast. She started gymnastics at age 6 after a daycare field trip to a local gym, where coaches noticed her copying older girls perfectly after watching for just a few minutes.

She quickly became the most decorated gymnast in history, with 11 Olympic medals (7 of them gold) and over 30 World Championship medals. She has had so many original moves credited to her - on vault, on beam, and on floor - that gymnastics has named five of them β€œthe Biles.” Each one is so difficult that no other woman has copied them in major competition.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics she pulled out of several events to protect her mental health, surprising the sports world and sparking a global conversation about the pressure athletes face. She came back at the 2024 Paris Olympics and won 3 more golds - proving once again that she is the GOAT, even with a goat charm on her leotard.
