THE FULL STORY

A Chihuahua named Milly held the Guinness World Record for the smallest dog ever measured. She was just 3.8 inches tall at the shoulder. That’s shorter than a TV remote standing on its end. Fully grown, she weighed about a pound - roughly the same as a stick of butter.

When Milly was born in Puerto Rico in 2011, she was so tiny her owner could balance her on a teaspoon. She was too small to nurse from her mother, so she had to be fed with an eyedropper every two hours for weeks until she was strong enough to drink on her own.

Despite being so small, Milly grew into a normal, playful dog. She had a tiny harness made just for her and zoomed around her home like any other Chihuahua. She also became the source of more than 49 cloned puppies, born to a lab in South Korea that wanted to keep her unusual genes.
